Quick note

But not a short one. Anyway, here I go…

1. As said, I’m re-doing the Gundam 00 screencaps again. And since this time I keep most of the frame (only delete repeated, blurry or totally totally unimportant ones), the collection is gonna be huge. There are around 700 images – 70 MB per episode. The quality is not extremely good (blame the software I use) but I think it’s sufficient enough for screencaps. However, the caps of the MS is totally awesome.

I’ll put up the caps one by one. Sorting them out is a time-consuming task so I can’t say when I’ll finish all of them. Use them however you want, just don’t upload a bunch of them on your site and claim them yours. I don’t particularly care about credit, but claiming those yours is another issue.

2. Some thoughts about the shows I’m watching:

CODE GEASS: As normal/good/so-so as ever. I have nothing against Code Geass (well, I used to) but somehow can’t really get boiled with it. As such, I won’t random-thoughing about it anymore. Too lazy.

MACROSS FRONTIER: Still doesn’t know what the main story is. Every episode is a fun watch, but nothing special. However, I must admit that if it wasn’t for Alto, I wouldn’t keep watching it. Ranka has grown annoying to me (and I hate her singing face) while Sheryl has become a more interesting character. The whole Miss Macross thing seems a little bit “out of place” and “stupid” to me (and what’s up with the bikini part and the bouncing breasts?). So, no blogging again. Lost the enthusiasm already.

NABARI NO OU: Very very very nice art. Beautiful color. Great action. So in short, visually stunning (it’s the studio that did Honey and Clover and Nodame Cantabile anyway). The characters are interesting enough for me to enjoy it (much more interesting than characters from MF), especially Miharu. This one is adapted from manga. Normally, I would track down the original one instead of watching the anime adaptation first, but this case I decide to follow the anime. Why? I read manga for the plot and story. The art comes later. As long as they are clear and clean, I don’t mind mind ugly drawn manga. Anime, on the other hands, while the art is not the most important factor to decide whether an anime is good or bad (to me), it’s the most important factor to decide whether I’ll give an anime a try (unless the story sounds VERY interesting). In Nabari no Ou case, the story is just okay for me. It’s not bad, but not too good either. Typical shounen: a boy has an important item inside his body (and of course, he doesn’t remember anything about it nor his past). Everyone wants to it. His teacher tries his best to protect him. While he appears to be a stranger to the main char, there’s indeed some connection in the past. All of that plus a mysterious voice inside the main char’s head. You got the idea. It’s typical to me, but the way they execute it is good enough for me to keep looking forward to the next ep. So not much of an issue here.

MONOCHROME FACTOR: The only reason that I give it a try is because Hiroshi Kamiya (Tieria) and Hiroyuki Yoshino are in it. Another mixed typical story (plus some shounen-ai element, not that I care). Hiroshi Kamiya this time voice the ultra-hyper cheerful Kengo and I almost couldn’t recognize his voice. Hiroyuki Yoshino, on the other hands, voice a bad guy and he uses his Hallelujah voice. The OP is quite good, but I can’t swallow the ED (a duet between Daisuke Ono and Hiroshi Kamiya). I’ll keep up with this just because the chibi looks really cute and the jokes are fun enough to make me laugh.

TOSHOUKAN SENSOU (LIBRARY WAR): Right, it’s library war. I don’t really get the whole library war thing, really. However, somehow I’m interested in the military training aspect. Characters are good and the art is nice. The story doesn’t seem cliché or typical (although the main female char as well as the main male char does). Still, I enjoy watching this one, just like Nabari no Ou, and is eager for the next eps.

SOUL EATER: It’s a shounen show again. The art is not really my style. The whole setting and atmosphere remind me very much of Halloween town from Kingdom Hearts. The action looks very cool. I’ve only watched one episode thus far. I’ll see whether I’ll continue or not after ep 3 (Death the Kidd appears).

3. I finally am able to continue with Evangelion. I watched ep 1 a long time ago and couldn’t bring myself to continue. This anime feels more movie-ish than any anime I’ve ever seen, with a lot of movie-like shots, abstract shots (don’t ask what it is) and slow pace drama moments and silence (if I’m to use a design term for this, it would be “white space”). In fact, it’s the slow pace that’s killing me. I can tolerate slow space 150 minutes drama movie, but not a slow page 26 x 20 minutes anime. The art is also another issue here. When I’m used to all the beautiful anime nowadays (and remember what I said about the art being the first factor I look into when I decide whether to watch a show or not), watching something like Eva is just a pain. With all of the complaints, I’m not saying that it’s bad. Just that I’m not in the mood, yet. I’ll keep up with this, but clearly not a 26 episodes marathon. I may be good at anime marathon, but not this one, thanks. I know my limit.
